Control System of Sediment-affected Hydropower Equipment & its Application in BionicHand

Funded by NTNU though Prof. Ole Gunnar Dahlhaug
(2020-2022)

This project developed a machine learning-assisted control system for a bionic hand. The research drew a novel connection between biomechatronics and energy systems, exploring how the control logic used for the bionic hand could be adapted to regulate guide vane
positions in hydropower turbines.

By studying how sediment erosion affects these systems, the project created a new interdisciplinary framework. This work lays the foundation for future applications in both assistive technology and sustainable energy, demonstrating how a control system can be used to manage erosion-caused defects in hydropower and enable intelligent prosthetic actuation.
