Samayojan’18 is a pre-event of Aviyantaa organized by team Aviyanta and AMES as a collaboration of School of Arts and Department of Mechanical Engineering. It was conducted from 24th November to 28th November and the junk art was displayed on 29th November. Here is a brief report about the artwork fabricated and experience sharing from the participants themselves.

Symbolization: The Groot has it’s head implanted with a “money plant” symbolizing that in the recent era people have their heads filled up with money ! Thus, our project “Groot” is a sarcasm to the present world and the scenario we’re living in ! Experience: We’ve experiences from the workshop on welding, cutting,drilling and other equipments available there . Further,as an advantage of a group project we were able to make a group of friends that includes seniors with bright minds.

Name of Art : Creation of robot
Symbolization:
Our modeled piece has taken inspiration from “Creation of Adam” by Michelangelo, where the central protagonists are Adam and God himself. Although the original work has an elaborate setting wherein the full-body form of both God and Adam is pictured with other supplementary elements that support the artwork. In our piece,we have excluded every other aspect of the original artwork and constricted our main work highlighting the hands of both the protagonists. Through this work,we have slightly altered the state at which the protagonists are subjected from “Adam and God” to “Robot and Human” where they play their roles respectively. As and how Michelangelo tried to convey us from the biblical source that God was the creator to the first human i.e. Adam, we too try to convey the perplexed state that we as human have reached God state where we challenge the very archetype of the biological foundations that has carried on since the dawn of time when the first signs of life started to show up, to creating our own version of Artificial Intelligence capable of most or many of the traits that redefine every aspect of our lives. This certain work is also an ode to both the Arts, the Engineering and the beauty that underlies in both the contradictory fields of study, this is our way of reaching a crescendo to it all.

Name of artwork: Process of change
Symbolization :
It symbolizes the changes in us. The artwork consists of two shapes, square on above and circle beneath. The circles beneath might convert into squares when gone through different circumstances symbolizing one’s nature needed to change under different phases. A man struggling in his life trying to be perfect like the shapes steadily changing into more perfection.
Experience:
Collaboration with mechanical students didn’t work out as we imagined. We did learn a lot of things. There were differences in our knowledge and ideas. We couldn’t corporate with them properly or they cooperate with us. The team wasn’t that good. We tried to cooperate with them but two members were literally not working with us which was really disturbing for our team to work. But then the other two were really nice to us. They worked really well with us. At least we were happy with them. Since our artwork also represents the conflict between the team members. Combining both department’s ideas and thoughts turned to a little dispute resulting in our artwork in a different form than we imagined. But overall it was a fun experience.

Symbolization: The primitive. This cart mainly describes Mesopotamians who invented and used carts for their trade purpose. Experience: Firstly, we all are very grateful and thankful to AMES for organizing such an amazing competition. It was the best experience and moment of our life. We had only read the theory and we were very weak to think and design something practically. We got opportunities to learn and apply our concepts using junk in this competition. We learned to use welding, cutting, and other basic tools used in engineering. Our (engineering & art students) collaboration was also really good. In a nutshell, we can say that it was the most beautiful and memorable part of our life. Thanks again to organizing team AMES and seniors of M.E. group who supported to make our work easy and taught us many things.

Symbolization: The vintage car thrashed in the ground represents our culture which has been diminishing and tells the importance of preservation of the old cultures.
Experience: It was a good experience working as a team with friends of school of art and school of engineering. We engineering students collabs our automobile idea with the students of art to design our art. They have a good knowledge of art, design, and paints and we have good knowledge of welding cutting fabricating which finally outcome our product.

Name of Art: Vintage हवाइजहाज
Symbolization: The Vintage हवाइजहाज reflects how Wright Brothers had made their first aeroplane, due to which the scenario of the travel had completely changed and saved a lot of time of the peoples’. Experience: This Junk Art Competition is also called Samayojan which is a great thing because we have worked with the KUSOA students and had changed the junk materials to the new piece of art. This thing makes a bond between us which can never be broken and we engineering students learn the art things from them about how the object can be made better with its exterior design. We have learned so many things like welding, cutting with different instruments, and creating things with unwanted materials. We have interacted with the Seniors which is very important because we get to learn many things from them. So these things had made the experience in us. Also, we are heartily thankful to all the people involved in this project especially Sanjeep Dai And Erica Didi.

This art is the representation of Rocket Launching Pad. As we know we are unable to relevance any space activities in Nepal. To us, it is a short way to make a route for our country in this technology sector.To inspire young minds towards space exploration is our main motto.
Experience :
By the help of mechanical skill ,creativeness in collaboration with the school of art students we made this rocket launching pad from junk material by managing our time.So we are glad to be a part of Samayojan’18 and it’s memorable event of our life.
