Enhancement of design and manufacturing capacity of Francis turbine in Nepal

Project period:                   2019 – 2021
Project Duration:              2 years
Funding Source:                NORAD through EnergizeNepal
Principle Applicant:          Nepal Micro Hydro Development Association
Partners:                            Design Lab, DoME, KU with technical support from TTL                                                             Nepal Yantra shala Energy.

       Objectives

  1. Development of a tool for generating industrial drawings of Francis turbines using parametric design and modeling.
  2. Fabrication and lab/field testing of a Francis turbine in the range of 500-1000 kW, produced with locally available resources and simplified processes.
  3. Development of procedures and standards for manufacturing Francis turbines for mini-to-small hydropower projects in the context of Nepal
