Prosthetic Hand

Prosthetic hand is being developed and distributed to the needy children under “one student one hand initiative“.This is a colloboration between DoME and e-nable Nepal to provide the needy children with hands that could change their lives in one way or the other.

Bionic Hand

Low cost bionic prosthetic hand is being developed in Design Lab. This bionic hand is much similar to the real human hand in shape and will try to mimic the human finger motion. They will have linear actuators attached to the each finger for movement which will be controlled using a muscle sensor on the amputeeā€™s hand. Basically it is a mind controlled hand. The wearer will be able to control the prosthetic hand on their will.

Skin Tone Silicon Liner for Prosthetic Hand

Silicon along with different color has been used to create various skin color tone. A template has been prepared for mixing. The prepared silicon will be coated on the 3D-printed hand. Also as an alternative a glove will be prepared.

Lockout Kits for Hydro power Maintainance

The lock out devices are specific. Some of the general type of lock out devices may be padlock,
master lock, plug lock, valve lock, MCB lock, cable lock, lock box, etc. some of this general type
of devices were designed and manufactured by the process of additive manufacturing in a 3D
printer. The devices can be designed and manufactured such that they meet the requirement for
the as mentioned above. Though lock out kits contain these type of devices the devices are site
specific also. The number of lock of device in quantity and specification may vary from industry
to industry. Thus it is more logical to make the parts as requirement rather than importing them
in bulk.

Paper Shredder

Recycling paper is the process of turning waste paper into new paper products. As the origin of the waste occurs for different sources, the geometry and orientation of the waste also varies from each other. A uniform particle size is very important during recycling. In paper recycling
industry is not only does reducing in size help with uniformity of the particle, it also helps the
particle to stick to one another as the surface area increases. A paper shredder machine is used
in recycling industry to reduce the particle size of the waste. Shredding machine in industrial
scale typically uses shear to break the materials into smaller pieces.

Fold able Chair for Hospital

Patient derived from Greek word originally meant one who suffers. In hospitals inpatients are
people who need to be admitted in the hospital spending more than 24 hours in the hospital.
These patients need people waiting for them. During the day, the waiting person is provided
with a chair. At night, the person waiting are forced to sleep on the floor. It might be frustrating
for the people to sleep at night as sometimes the treatment can take up to several months. It is
also difficult to provide the bed for people attending the patient. As beds are spacious and rigid
it is not feasible to provide an extra bed after each patient. Thus people have to abandon
comfort to attend their patients at night. By providing a chair that can be transformed to bed this
comfort does not have to be compromised.
Hospitals provide a chair to sit during the day. The chair has been designed in such a way that
with a simple pull the chair can be transformed into a bed. This can provide more physical
comfort for the people who are attending their patients. The chair can be designed such that it
can fit one person of 6 feet in height.

Hand Rehabilitation Device

Hand rehabilitation device for hemiplegic patients are being developed in Design lab. Most of the stroke survivors end up with half of their body paralyzed with upper limb flexing and lower limb extending. The device being developed helps such patients in the rehabilitation. The device can be controlled using a mobile app or a physical switch.

Force Plate Design using load cell

Force plate helps in measuring the force that a person exerts while walking which plays an important role in Gait analysis. The force plate could be useful to analyze the walking pattern of person.

Actuator Design for Prosthetics / Orthotics

Linear actuator made of screw, nut, servo motor and few 3D printed parts are being designed in Design Lab for use in prosthetics and orthotics.

Low cost adapter fabrication method for lower limb socket

The adapter for lower limb sockets are expensive to buy but required in every socket. The price of adapter is high as it is imported. Design Lab has been working to find out an alternate low cost version of the adapter which can be fabricated locally.

CT Scan To 3D

Data from CT scan are converted into 3D model and printed using a 3D printer to visualize the internal structures.
